Surgery

Well, I have finally had it...

I am going to be asking my doctor about scheduling surgery during Spring Break.

I can't take the pain anymore...and I do NOT want to be on pain killers permanently while I wait.

So...March? I sure hope so...that STILL seems FOREVER away!

Updates

Well, I had my first round of epidural injections yesterday...and I still feel pretty bad. Granted the day of and the day after the procedure is supposed to be the worst. I have a HORRIBLE spinal headache...(which I didn't have when I had an epi with Addyson) I am just hopeing that these end up working for me.

Yesterday I noticed that one of our kittens "MOE" was acting really funny...he was coughing and shaking...and just not being as playful as usual. So...since he was acting even worse today, we took him to OSU's Teaching Vetrinary Hospital ER. I was there for 4 hours...and ended up spending $210. All they could figure out is that he has an elevated white blood cell count (which indicates infection) and bacteria in his urine. The poor baby was poked and prodded for 4 hours...and all they could do was tell me that they needed to keep him for the weekend and order more tests to get a definitive answer. We just can't afford him being there all weekend on top of more tests...(it would have ended up being closer to $600). So, they sent me home with antibiotics and a de-wormer (because he has some kind of parasite) and said if he doesn't get any better in 2 days...to bring him back. The poor baby is just laying here in my lap...looking at me like "Mom, I feel bad". I hate when animals are hurt or sick....ugh.

On top of that...Our air-conditioner crapped out today...and I left a message with the after hours receptionist and NOONE has called us back! So...its like 90 degrees in our apartment and we are miserable...UGH!

Hopefully it all starts to get better!

Updates

We are officially in our new house!! It is so nice not to live in apartments anymore! :) Of course we still have ALOT of unpacking to do...AND Addyson's crib needs to be set up still...but we are slowly getting there.

I met with a family last night about possibly taking care of 3 boys FULL time and one boy after school. This family is really relaxed and raises Addyson alot like we do. I am going to meeting with them again on Tuesday (at their house) to kind of see how things work around there.

Adam is SO busy with school...he is absolutely exhausted between work and school...but he is enjoying his classes.

Addyson is hitting a stage where she is being QUITE bratty. Its really trying mommy and daddy's patience...but hopefully it will be over soon!

Job

Well, unfortunately, my job working as a part time nanny didn't work out. I was kind of upset, but at the same time relieved. The family I am working for had some very unsettling requirements...and there was no way that I could properly care for my child at the same time.

So...it looks like I am going to be searching for a job...and putting Addyson back in daycare. I have already applied for a couple jobs...so we shall see.

Keep your fingers crossed for me guys! :)

Addyson

Addyson is getting SOOO big SOOO quick!

She LOVES playing with her kittens and puppies...and is SO sweet to them! This morning the kitten jumped into her playpen and she was SO excited! She perked up from not feeling well REALLY quickly!

Oh...and we have learned 3 new words..."Don't","Yes", (she even nods her head when she says yes!) and "Ow"

We are cutting 4 molars right now...and REALLY putting mommy and daddy through the ringer! Mommy was up with her from 12:30-3:30 last night dealing with the whole teething/tummy upset.

This is going to sound horrible...but she has become SO clingy! And most of the time I LOVE IT! She is into cuddling with me BIG TIME!

Prayer Request

As a lot of you know, I have been suffering from chronic back pain over the course of the past year...and occasional back pain for the four years before that. It is all due to a car wreck that I was in when I was 18...that was actually pretty bad.

Well, over the past year it has gotten SO bad that there are days when it is impossible for me to do anything but lay on the couch....and as you can imagine...thats not an option for me! I finally got an appointment with a neurosurgeon...and he did some x-rays and decided that I needed an MRI. I got the MRI results today...and it wasn't very good news. Turns out that I don't just have one herniated disc...I have 2...one of which is pretty severe. The L5 (the lowest disc in your back) is herniated quite substantially...and also has started to fragment. Because of these herniated discs...I have quite a bit of pressure on my sciatic nerve...which is causing me to go completely numb on my whole left side.

So with that background...here is the prayer request. I have two options...I can either have epidural/steroid injections which MAY or MAY NOT deal with the symptoms. It doesn't fix the problem...and there is a chance it may not even deal with the pain. Not to mention the injections are fairly expensive and I need to have up to 3 per year...EVERY year. My second option is do have a micro discectomy. This is where they go in...and trim down the bulging discs so that they are no longer able to fragment and put pressure on the nerves. Its an outpatient procedure...the full recovery period is 6 weeks...(I would have to lay VERY low for 7-10 days) AND it would fix the problem permanently! The doctor says the decision is up to me...but that if I want permanent relief and LESS cost then I should have the surgery. (My surgery copay is only 100...and the epidural injections will cost me $100 EACH time. ) I am going to start out with epidural injections...but I really think I will end up having surgery. I would really like for you all to pray that I can make the best decision regarding surgery. I am really leaning towards having it...just because I would rather take 6 weeks of recovery...verses numerous shots...expenses and 48 hours recovery PER injection.

Thanks guys!!

Welcome!

Hi guys! I am sure this will be our first post of many! We have been using Myspace and Facebook for some time now...but really wanted a way to keep our family and friends updated as to what is going on in our world!

Adam is starting back this fall for his 2nd semester! He has quite a heavy load with 2 night classes this semester AND working 35 hours a week...so we are sure he is going to be quite busy!

Addyson is growing like a weed! At her 1 year check up she was 27 3/4 inches long, 22 1/2 pounds...and quite ahead of herself developmentally. She FINALLY caught up on her height...hitting JUST under the 50th percentile, which mommy and daddy were VERY proud of! She is walking ALL over everywhere! So mommy is quite busy these days! We are adding new words to our vocabulary ALL the time. We can now say, "Mum-mum (mommy)", "Dada", "No-No", "Inner (dinner)", "Itty (kitty)", "Whoa" and "Buh Bye". She is quite the talker...and sometimes we wish we could understand exactly what she is saying!

I am starting a new job tommorow! It is amazing to me how the Lord provides if you just ask and trust him. I will be working as a part-time nanny for a 9 month old little girl, Elisa. It is really an answer to prayer since I didn't want to put Addyson back in daycare...but I still wanted to help out our family financially.

We will be moving into our house this upcoming weekend! We are just renting...but it so exciting for us to finally have a house! Its 3 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath, 2 car garage, and LARGE backyard. I even get to have a nice sized kitchen with a breakfast nook! YAY! In celebration of having a back yard...we adopted two GORGEOUS, SWEET, Lab/Shar-Pei mix puppies. They are SOOO well behaved...and their story just grabbed us. So...until the move...our house is QUITE like a barnyard! 1 cat, 2 kittens and 2 puppies! Its crazy around here...but I LOVE IT!

I will be sure and keep you guys updated! I LOVE blogging...so I am sure I will be on here ALOT!
